Élodie is our Koala Mom of the month!
What kind of mom are you? Cool or slutty? Introduce yourself ;)
I am 30 years old (I had them 10 days after the birth of my daughter Rose) and I live in Bordeaux. I am married to Matthieu with whom I have been in a relationship for 12 years. We have just bought a house where we have redone everything to our taste and taken particular care to decorate Rose's room!
I am rather calm, not stressed, positive and I like to enjoy life. So I would say that I am a cool mom! But of course, I have a real "chicken" side... I love hugging Rose so much and whispering in her ear that I love her so much. I often wonder what it was like before without her!! Besides, I am in no hurry to get back to "real life" but my maternity leave is unfortunately coming to an end.
What are your 3 “must have” childcare accessories that you recommend to all future mothers?
- The Stokke bathtub, foldable, lightweight and very practical at home or when you go away for the weekend. Rose loves taking her bath in it.
- The Stokke high chair: Rose is at our height and next to us while I prepare food or we eat, and she loves it.
- For the past month, I've been using the Babycook to prepare delicious little purees and compotes for him (I really like cooking and with the Babycook, it's really practical!).
And your essentials for going on a walk?
The Studio Romeo scarf that we always have with us so we can carry Rose against me or against her dad, she loves it and me too, she looks everywhere!! When we go for a walk to the ocean, it's so practical... I'm also really happy with the Yoyo stroller in town: it's light, practical and easy to handle. And can we talk about that pink color? : ) Finally, a tote bag with lots of pockets (one of my little obsessions!), a comforter for Rose and several diapers , super practical.
What does carrying your baby mean to you?
Feeling Rose snuggled against me is a magical moment. And she loves being like that so much!
By the way, where do you like to walk with Rose?
I love walking around the city in Bordeaux, in the Jardin Public and especially whenever possible going to Cap Ferret or the Basque Country to enjoy the seaside and the beach.
What is your favorite travel destination?
For now, I would say my family home in Cap Ferret. A wild and exotic place 1 hour from Bordeaux, peaceful in the pines with the ocean just a stone's throw away... Pure bliss!
Then we dream of visiting California with Rose! I already went there when I was younger with my parents, so I dream of going back with my husband and daughter.
Do you have any kid-friendly addresses or tips to share in your region and around Bordeaux?
On Sundays, we love brunching in Bordeaux. My favorite gourmet addresses? Contrast, Mona, Café Piha and Horace.
My good addresses with baby: Darwin, for Sunday brunch and because you can spend the afternoon there, walking around. It's an atypical place like I like them.
Your interior decor makes us dream, what are your secrets?
My best friend is Pinterest! For me, it's a source of inspiration with endless decorating and DIY ideas... and Instagram too, of course!
We did a lot of work in our new house, we had to choose everything from A to Z and I had a blast, especially when I had to imagine Rose's room. My favorite part of her room decor is her wall with the Cole and Son wallpaper.
And otherwise I really like green plants, I think they are a decoration in their own right and they give a natural style to the house.
Your Instagram account makes us see life through rose-tinted glasses: what does this color represent for you?
Flowers, softness, femininity… And my daughter’s name, obviously!
What are some blogs that you particularly like to follow?
I have a lot of friends and family who have an Instagram account so I follow them with pleasure! I also follow "big" accounts, especially those of mothers who had a baby a few weeks before me, like Marion @fringeeandfrange who had her little Romy 1 month before me and whose style I love. I also met young mothers with whom we created real friendships, that's also Instagram!
Designers, brands, artists... who inspire you?
I really like Morgane Sezalory, Three Seven Paris and Louise Misha . Thanks to Instagram, I also discovered inspiring designers and beautiful concept stores. I discover new ones every day, I love it! There are people who have a lot of talent and it's great to be able to discover their work.
A cult object on your desk or in your bag?
I love notebooks, I have them in all sizes and shapes! Even though I'm not very organized, I love making to-do lists (which I don't follow very much in the end, but I never get tired of them!).
What has changed since you became a mother?
Oddly enough, not much... We've adapted our lives around Rose and we're trying to make the most of it, all three of us.
A piece of advice you'll never forget?
At the maternity ward, an osteopath told me: "Don't listen to people's advice, do what you feel and everything you do for Rose will be good." I apply it every day and everything is going very well.
