Before having children, we often wonder what this little piece of fabric is used for... But that was before! A baby swaddle is an essential accessory for all mothers. Very absorbent, very soft and not bulky, it is useful day and night. So much so that we wonder what we would do without it. The proof is in these 10 ways to use a swaddle!
Swaddling
This is the primary function of a swaddle: in our grandmothers' time, it was used to swaddle a newborn. Effective for calming a baby's cries, this age-old practice is making a comeback. All you need is a large swaddle , your two hands, a little technique and that's it! Wrapped from head to toe in his swaddle, the baby feels like he's found a little cocoon. Enough to sleep soundly at nap time or bedtime!
Light cover
In mid-season or when the weather is changeable, we don't really know how to dress baby and we sometimes forget to take a blanket with us. The swaddle is perfect as a light blanket. A little fresh air, and hop we surround our baby with it to keep him warm.
Doudou
Many babies end up adopting the essential swaddle as a real comfort blanket. It must be said that the softness of cotton muslin can be particularly addictive! Attached to a pacifier or a stuffed animal, tied into a ball, the swaddle will follow your little one everywhere.
Nursing cover
There is nothing more unpleasant than having to breastfeed in public, without being able to find a private corner. Light and practical, the swaddle allows you to cover the chest without keeping the baby too warm. Ideal for breastfeeding in complete peace.
Portable changing table
With a diaper that doubles as a portable changing mat, no more accidents on the car seat or on the sofa! Outside, as at home, remember to slip a diaper under baby's body while you change him, you'll thank us.
Bib
No need to carry baby's entire dresser with you every time you go out: tied around baby's neck, a swaddle turns out to be a perfect bib (in addition to being pretty). This will save you from having to change your baby's sweater for the 3rd time in a day!
Shoulder protector
Here's another anti-laundry tip, especially for moms! A swaddle is a faithful ally to protect yourself from baby's regurgitation, especially when burping. After breastfeeding or eating, place a swaddle on your shoulder and you're (almost) sure to be able to keep your outfit of the day.
Play mat
When traveling, if you don't have a blanket or a bath towel, consider using a swaddle as a play mat. The bigger it is, the better! Baby will love the ultra-soft cotton muslin and the pretty printed patterns.
Sun visor
Despite the stroller hood, is baby still exposed to the sun? Place a swaddle on top to provide protection. Lightweight, it will let a little air through to prevent any heat stroke. And to protect older babies from the sun, you can always turn a small swaddle into a cute headband!
Multi-function protection
A bit like a mattress protector (and if you don't have one on hand), the swaddle allows you to add a layer of protection when your baby is installed, whether in their bouncer, on their bed or in the stroller.
And between us, you can also borrow baby's swaddle to tie it as a scarf around your neck. Very useful in chilly weather, word of friends!
